How to Use This Website

Morning routines, afternoon check-ins and more:

Morning Routines

Daily morning routine videos can be found here.  These aim to help get our minds and bodies ready for the day.

A slightly different video will be added each day, so make sure you click on the video with today’s date in the title:

If possible, we would encourage you to pause the video for discussion after the daily facts section.  You can also invite discussion after each of the three questions, but no pressure should be placed on anyone to share their thoughts if they do not feel comfortable doing so.

Afternoon Check-ins
A check-in video for daily use can be found here (under morning routine videos).  This aims to help get our minds and bodies ready for the afternoon.

The video prompts you to use strategies from this website.  You can access the strategies from the homepage

Throughout the Day
Strategies on the website can be used throughout the day to help you get into the zone to do things that are important to you.  We will add to these strategies and activities over time and in response to your feedback and suggestions.

Remember, different strategies work for different people so it’s ok if a strategy doesn’t work for you.  However, it's important to try strategies a few times before you decide whether you find them useful.

Strategies can be accessed from the homepage.

Calming Activities

Move from yellow zone to green zone: Different strategies work for different people, so you need to find the ones that work for you.  Here are some to try.   Try each strategy a few times because it takes us a while to get used to doing something new.  If it still doesn't help, try a different strategy.   BREATHE Fun  Serious   STRETCH Fun Play this one at 0.75 speed: Serious IMAGINE Fun Serious ANIMALS RELAXING VISUALS MUSCLE RELAXATION Fun Serious TRAVEL

Zones of Regulation

Quick note on terms used: To quickly describe different energy levels and feelings, we use terms from the Zones of Regulation (Kuypers, 2011).  These terms are clearly explained the video below.   For more information please see the Zones of Regulation website:    Reference: Kuypers, L. M. (2011)  The Zones of Regulation: A Curriculum Designed to Foster Self-regulation and Emotional Control. San Jose, CA; Think Social Publishing, Inc.
